Graphic Designer

Overview/Posting Summary:

James Forman, Jr., author of the Pulitzer Prize Winning book, Locking Up Our Own, working with the Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Setting (CEEAS), is looking to hire a graphic designer to develop a user-friendly, internet-based Teacher’s Guide for the book.

The content of Teacher’s Guide is complete and will be available to the Graphic Designer.

The Teacher’s Guide content includes sample lessons and activities, primarily drafted in MS Word, along with a range of multimedia materials including news articles, videos, and other texts and primary source material.

The author has preliminary ideas on how the Teacher’s Guide might be organized and presented, but Mr. Forman is looking to hire a Graphic Designer who brings both technical skills and creative design skills to the project.

About the Teacher’s Guide:

As envisioned, the Teacher’s Guide would be available online, at no fee, to the public. The target audience is high school teachers.

The Guide would be accessible for use by teachers whether they have limited or significant technology support and Internet access at their schools.  The Guide will need to be available in a range of formats. For example, the print version would need to be available on a website in a PDF format. Video clips may need to be available in a range of formats.

The Guide would be available for teachers to use as a whole or as smaller, separate mini-units or lessons.

The Guide, or the website where the Guide resides, would offer teachers the opportunity to share and collaborate.  For example, if a teacher used the guide and developed separate class plans or assignments based on the Guide and the Book,  the Guide/website would include ways for that teacher to post the assignment and share with others.
